About me
My name is Jasmine, I have a 1st class BA (hons) degree in Popular Music from the world renowned Leeds Jazz Conservatoire. I am currently training as a vocalist myself with Josh Alamu (Vocal coach to RAYE, Jade and FLO) and I have been teaching a range of ages and abilities as a vocal coach myself privately for over 5 years now.
When I’m not coaching, I am working as a professional vocalist in the music industry. I have worked with such artists as Ellie Goulding, Stormzy, Sienna Spiro, Nectar Woode, DC3, Pip Millet, Bel Cobain, James Vickery, Kenyon Dixon, Jacob Banks, Unknown T, Sophie Faith and Black Sherif to name a few.
I regularly perform live as a lead or backing vocalist around the UK and London music scene in such venues as Bush Hall, KOKO, Metropolis studios, BBC Maida Vale, Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club and the BBC XTRA1 Live Lounge. I believe my ability as a vocal coach is strengthened by my current experience as a vocalist in the industry. It allows me to pass on relevant and current advice to my students in vocal health and regular practice techniques that I implement in my own life.
On top of this, I am an independent artist with close to one million streams on my debut release. I believe this experience helps me to offer upcoming artists a good understanding of how to build a career in music from the ground up. The Lesson’s
I personalise each and every session I teach to suit my client's individual needs. I offer all my new students a 20 min FREE goal setting session where we discuss your wishes and obstacles and find out if we’re a good fit for one another. From here on we create a plan of direction for future lessons together to achieve your dream voice.
Together we will cover and explore the fundamentals of singing, including breath management, expression, pitch and tone. I encourage all my students to bring along some of their favourite repertoire for us to explore in our lessons. I also provide a wide range of inspiring repertoire in a range of difficulty and styles to keep you feeling challenged.
As vocalists we have an innate talent for imitation. Being inspired by others and bringing parts of their tones into your influences is such an important part of the evolving vocal process. I ensure every lesson we have together includes a fair balance of focused technical practice alongside creative work and recognising what we love in the music that inspires us. I want you to leave every session with me feeling an improvement and inspiration to continue your own practice. Together we will explore how to optimise creativity and technique to reach your full potential whilst enjoying the process of doing so.
